Welcome to Rough Rider Country!
Parents and Students:
As we prepare for the second semester of the school year, this is a good time to emphasize many practices and procedures that insure student safety and encourage a positive learning environment with high academic success.
It is important that teachers and students utilize the maximum instructional time within each class period. Students must arrive to each class prepared and on time. We recently added the additional minute to our passing periods to insure all students have plenty of time to travel to and from classes. Students found tardy to any class, including lunch, will be required to serve an after school detention and study hall on the following day. Parents will be notified to arrange for late transportation. Students who are continually tardy will be placed on a Required Parent Conference.
Many of our students take advantage of our site specific extended day, allowing students to take an extra class which includes an early bird class beginning at 8 AM. Because students are required to have the necessary seat time to earn credit, they must also arrive on time to early bird classes. Students must enter through the doors on Pavilion Center. If arriving later than 8:05, students are required to report to the Dean’s Office to secure a pass to class. Students who are continually tardy or absent may be removed from the early bird class as we do have a waiting list of students wishing to have an early bird class second semester. If arriving on time becomes a hardship or challenge, we will ask students to return to the regular instructional day beginning at 9:10 AM.
All morning clubs and activities also begin at 8 AM. Our Advisors volunteer and prepare for the activity and begin promptly at 8AM. Students arriving after 8:05 will not be permitted to attend until the club activity until the following day. Students will be asked to wait until 8:40 to enter the building with all students.
Following the bell at 8:40, students may enter the quad area. Students may enter the instructional hallways at 8:52 and can visit with teachers for extra help, or go to their lockers from 8:52 until the regular school day begins at 9:10. We appreciate your support with these procedures, allowing us to provide appropriate outside supervision beginning at 8:40 AM as designated for all schools in CCSD beginning at 9:10.
Please view the website for all information including semester exams, and shortened days for all students during the exam week. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to call the office.
Thank you for being a part of Rough Rider Country.
Beginning Feb. 13, Being Tardy Will Result in a RPC!
Student attendance and participation is the number one predictor of student success in the classroom. When students are unnecessarily absent and tardy, overall academic achievement is affected.
Effective Monday, February 13th 2017, students late to any class including early bird, will be required to report directly to the Dean’s Office. Students will be placed on RPC for being tardy, and parents will be required to meet with an administrator to discuss the tardy prior to the student’s return on the following day.
