Welcome to Rough Rider Country!
October 11, 2017
Thank you for all that you do to support our students. This has been a great year. Students and teachers have endured large classes with our high enrollment, and most recently have remained Las Vegas Strong, with challenges resulting from the recent tragedy here in Las Vegas. We could not be more proud of our staff, our students, and our community. Rough Rider Country continues to be a very positive place in each of our lives.
Our larger classes are the result of our increased enrollment this year. Next week, we will gain additional teaching staff which will allow us the opportunity to level class sizes and make necessary changes to the master schedule to best accommodate our students.
I realize that to some it does not always sound positive when we hear “schedule changes are coming.” Necessary changes to the schedule, however, will provide an opportunity for your child to be successful with appropriate rigor and challenges, along with opportunities consistent with ability levels. Students will receive more individualized instruction from teachers with a smaller class, ensuring greater success. Many times these schedule changes are more difficult for parents than for students. Please give us your support and know that students are our number one concern. In many cases, because student schedules will change as classes are moved to allow for new staffing, it will not be possible to return to the previous schedule. We ask that you be patient and support your child through the change process.
Although change can seem difficult, our teachers are exceptional and we do believe students will adjust, and changes will prove to be a positive intervention toward overall student achievement. All changes will take place on Monday, October 16, 2017.
We appreciate your support as we complete this process and look forward to a very successful year with your student.
Thank you for being involved in your child’s education at Sig Rogich Middle School. Together we can make a difference. Go Rough Riders! If you have concerns or questions, please notify your child’s counselor at 799-6040 X 4300.
